New 3-Day Workshop Series

Creative Still-Life with Megan Ellen MacDonald

1_StillLifeWithCauldron.jpg

In this 3-day intensive oil painting workshop with Megan Ellen, students will learn how to quickly and efficiently translate a still-life composition into a finished oil painting using a direct wet-into-wet application of paint, then continue on to complete a fully realized painting with strong visual impact as well as subtlety. This workshop will have emphasis on the fundamentals of painting and good image making – both technical and conceptual – through the tradition of still life painting. Megan will walk students through learning key elements of creating both expressive and convincing paintings from life, which include composition, colour harmony, value design, sculpting dimensional form, and mark-making among many other skill sets.

Students will be provided with a dynamic still-life to work from for the full three days – first creating small and quick composition studies, and moving into creating a fully finished and elaborate still-life painting that will express light, colour, and texture. Each day will consist of a lecture and painting demo by the instructor, followed by focused work periods and one-on-one instruction.

3 Days:

August 23rd - 25th 2019
Friday - Sunday 10am - 5pm

*A list of materials will be sent 2 weeks before the start date.
